Much of what happens inside a skilled nursing building depends on the people leading it. H2 Staffing recruits that leadership for skilled nursing, long-term care, senior living and post-acute organizations, from single-building operators to regional multi-facility groups. Our work centers on the Administrator and the Director of Nursing, the two seats that set the direction of a building, and extends to the regional leaders who support them.
Post-Acute Leadership Roles We Recruit
Nursing Home Administrator
The licensed operator accountable for the whole building: budget, census, survey outcomes, staffing and referral relationships.
Director of Nursing
The registered nurse who leads clinical care, nursing staff and survey readiness. Federal rules require skilled nursing facilities to designate a full-time DON.
Executive Director
The senior leader of a senior living or post-acute community, responsible for operations, occupancy, team performance and resident experience.
Regional Director of Operations
The operator who supports and holds accountable the Administrators and Executive Directors across a portfolio of buildings.
Regional Director of Clinical Services
The clinical leader who supports Directors of Nursing across multiple facilities, with a focus on quality, compliance and survey readiness.
Assistant Administrator
Where state licensure and the organization’s structure support the role, a development seat that prepares a future Administrator while strengthening the current leadership team.
We also discuss other senior post-acute leadership roles with operators on a case-by-case basis.
Our two most requested searches each have a dedicated page: Nursing Home Administrator recruitment and Director of Nursing recruitment.
Why Post-Acute Leadership Is Difficult to Recruit
Strong operators and clinical leaders are hard to find in any market, and several features of post-acute care make these searches harder still.
Licensure Narrows the Pool
A Nursing Home Administrator must be licensed in the state where the facility operates, and requirements and reciprocity vary from state to state. A Director of Nursing must hold an active registered nurse license. In practice, the realistic candidate pool is often limited to licensed leaders within a defined geography.
Accountability Is Concentrated
The Administrator and the Director of Nursing carry survey results, census, staffing, clinical quality and financial performance at the same time. Experienced leaders understand that exposure, and they evaluate a new building carefully before they consider leaving the one they run today.
The Best Candidates Are Already Employed
Leaders who are performing well are usually busy running a building, not browsing job boards. They ask direct questions about survey history, census trends, staffing and the regional team, and they expect straight answers before they will consider a move.
Why Direct Search Is Often Necessary
A job posting reaches people who are actively looking. Direct search reaches the licensed Administrators, Directors of Nursing and regional leaders who are not. We identify those leaders by name, approach them confidentially and give them an honest picture of the opportunity, which is often the only reliable way to reach the candidates operators most want to hire. Our full approach is described on how our search works.
Organizations We Serve
We work with skilled nursing facilities, long-term care organizations, senior living and memory care communities, continuing care retirement communities, rehabilitation providers and multi-facility operators. H2 Staffing is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, recruits across Texas and serves post-acute organizations nationwide.
Confidential Replacement Searches
Replacing a sitting Administrator or Director of Nursing often has to happen quietly. We can run the search without naming your organization until a candidate is engaged and it is appropriate to do so, and no candidate’s name or résumé is shared without their permission.
